Transparency

“Transparency is needed in every level of government. When it comes to the need of more transparency I am generally more concerned with the federal and state governments rather than the city level. When you become frustrated with something in the government it always seems easier to get ahold of my local elected officials than state and federal elected officials.”

Guns & Ammunition

“The federal government does not have the right to abridged any right to bear arms. Our problem is a mental health problem not a gun problem. This is the same issue we have with drug addiction. The issue is with our overall mental health and not the substance or tool. That is where we need to focus the medicine.”

SUPPORT
S

Fire Department Personnel

“My uncle was a fire fighter. The lifeless struggle that firefighters and first responders go through are immense. I support our ladies and gentlemen that risk life and limb to protect the rest of us. The federal government should get out of the way of state and local facilities that help allow the state and local governments to promote and fund their own facilities.”

NEUTRAL
N

Police officers & equipment

“While I accept and support local law enforcement, the recent military upgrades they have been making are disturbing. I am not against retiring military garb and equipment to local PD I am against anything that is unconstitutional and the current military tools and equipment are unconstitutional and shouldn't be used against residents or any other human.”

NEUTRAL

CAMPAIGN CORRUPTION

“Well at the first I'm not all that agreeable with corporations or unions. I won't deny contributions from them but I won't make deals based on those contributions. ”

INTERNATIONAL AID

“There is no such thing as free anything let alone healthcare or "education". Healthcare costs can be decreased through education and reliability, general education can be found online for free, accredited education is much more expensive. If I were an employer I would rather higher someone who knew more than someone who had a degree that said they knew something.”

NEUTRAL
N

FEMA GRANTS

“I appreciate the federal government wanting to help those who have been harmed or put out by natural disasters but FEMA hasn't proved that they are really worth anything. The federal government should step back and let the state governments save for their own disasters. Individuals are generous and like to know that they donated to a good cause. Let them decide who to help outside state funding.”

Social Security

“Social security was well intended but is not viable. The more the government taxes the leads of what they tax, the more they subsidize the more of what they subsidize. The more of an income tax we have the less employment and the more unemployment is subsidized the more unemployment we have. These social benefits we currently have also attracts immigrants to come to the country illegal.”

STRONGLY SUPPORT

President Ronald Reagan's Vision for Small Government

“I'm not sure if Ronald Reagan had it quite right, but he was definitely on to something. The federal government far exceeds the control the founding fathers expected or hoped for. They should be rolling in their graves if they could know of the overreach the federal government right now.”

SUPPORT
S

National Defense

“A National defense is one of the main roles of the federal government. At the moment our military spending is through the roof. We spend $619 billion a year on the military, china is in 2nd with $171 billion. Cut our military spending in half, we will still be spending more than the Chinese by almost double. I will promote and vote for any bill to decreases military spending to that level.”

Township Government

“Local municipalities have more of a bead on the needs of their community; more so than state and especially federal government. A town meeting allows for each resident of the town to show up, provide dialogue and vote on issues.”

STRONGLY OPPOSE

Tax & Spend

“Taxation is theft. Before the 16th amendment it was unconstitutional to for the federal government to directly tax individuals. The states would figure out the best way to collect funds from the citizens of their state and then would allocate the funds, based on the state's population. The state's ability to withhold federal funding maintained the state's restriction of federal overreach. ”

SUPPORT
S

U.S. Withdraw from the Paris Accord

“Keeping our ecosystem is very important. Paying for other countries to fallow the same guidelines as America doesn't seem to benefit anyone. Bootstrapping and trying to solve problems with a limited budget promotes ingenuity and could lead to an energy source that is far more eco friendly and cost effective. ”

NEUTRAL
N

Higher Education

“Higher education can be gained in a variety of ways. If a private company wants to put merit into a college diploma that is their prerogative. The federal government has no reason to get involved in funding colleges or punishing them for providing free videos online, only because the hearing impaired cannot benefit from the videos.”

OPPOSE
O

ISTEP

“No child left behind was a failure. It would be interesting to see the different methods the various states come up with to measure education and IQ levels at varying age groups. The federal government could then identify and recommend a particular method to the other states to apply.”

NEUTRAL
N

Public Pre-Kindergarten

“The funding of public schools is not the role of the federal government, that is for State and local governments to figure out.”

SUPPORT
S

Education Choice & Vouchers

“The parent's ability to chose where their children go is very important. I think it is ultimately a community's decision whether to provide and fund public schooling. There will always be a need for education, public schooling may or may not be the best method to provide an education. Allow for more competition and for parents to be able to have a choice as well.”

NEUTRAL
N

Public Safety

“There are decent laws that generally protect public safety, there are also some terrible laws as well. I would have to reason a bill's logic and vote based on each individual bill.”

STRONGLY OPPOSE

Crime & Punishment

“Mandatory minimums insults the officer's and judge's intelligence and reasoning skills. Politicians cannot know and account for, nor should they have to, every nuance of every crime that will be committed. I am in favor of the death penalty but only of the most heinous of crimes and only if the individual is proven, without a shadow of doubt, guilty.”

OPPOSE
O

Abortion

“ Abortion is a touchy topic. As a US Senator I would leave the matter for the states to work on. I am personally against abortions wouldn't support any funding to organizations that perform abortions. I am however usually against government funding of any kind.”

MANDATORY MILITARY DRAFT

“The men and women who willingly fight to protect the rights and lives of the rest of use is extremely courageous and selfless. The government does not have the right to force anyone to risk their lives. Today we are in countless wars that are undeclared by congress with vague and questionable reasons as to what safety or liberties these wars protect. ”

SUPPORT
S

Justice REFORM

“Law enforcement is a integral role in our society. It is a dangerous job to have and those who decide to join law enforcement, uphold their Oath of Honor and Code of Ethics, deserve the utmost respect for what they do. Everyone who serves the public, should be held to a higher standard. I do not believe there needs to be a new code. Our current codes and laws need to be enforced.”

STRONGLY SUPPORT
S+

GOVERNMENT CORRUPTION

“I believe that there should definitely be term limits for all congressional offices. Being elected to office is a duty and a responsibility where the elected official is beholden the citizens they are representing. I do not think that businesses should be treated as people. Businesses are made up of a group of people, those individuals are already treated as people.”

STRONGLY SUPPORT

Social Justice

“I am not sure what Social justice means to you, it seems to mean something different to everyone. To me, social justice means treating everyone fair and no different than anyone else, I do not mean someone's innate feelings, thoughts, or particular writing of their beliefs, as long as it is not calling for and enacting violence, first hand.”

NEUTRAL
N

RFRA

“the RFRA sounds redundant. The first amendment prohibits the government to abridge the freedom of speech and expression, including the expression of religious beliefs or of the free press. There for any law that hinders a religious group's speech or expression also hinders a secular individual's speech and expression which is unconstitutional.”

NEUTRAL
N

Civil Liberties and Civil Rights

“I am for equal rights of everyone. That is a level playing field for all, not a equal outcome. I am not in favor of forcing religious establishments to marry those of the same sex. I am in favor of allowing establishments turn away anyone they want for whatever reason they want. I do not support any establishment who is racist and currently I have no way of knowing of their bias.”

NEUTRAL
N

Water Farming

“I haven't looked into water farming enough to say one way or the other, however I do not believe that it is not the government's job to enforce any particular method for a business to fallow. The government can and should provide the information to allow a business to use the best, most ecological and affordable method for their unique position in their business endeavors.”

STRONGLY OPPOSE
O+

Alcohol License Moratorium

“While I favor our local brewmasters, winemakers and distillers I do not support a moratorium on any alcoholic beverage new, imported or otherwise.”

NEUTRAL
N

Alcohol Sales

“I believe that individuals can produce their own alcohol and give to whom ever they would like, barring minors outside immediate family and/or with the consent of a parent or guardian, while in private. ”

SUPPORT
S

Agriculture & Farms

“Growing up I had many friends who were farmers and I occasionally helped them hay and corral cattle. Farming has been a staple for Vermont and continues to be important. My goal is to allow farmers the ability to tend to their land without the government hindering them with burdensome regulations and operation costs or force them into growing a certain crop to qualify for subsidies.”
