I believe that we can help business' within our city limits by providing them with a business tax deduction schedule, giving business' the opportunity to get a discount on City of Hickory taxes if they pay them within a certain set schedule. This is one way to encourage small business' to get started and stay in Hickory.

To support all three levels of government- Federal, State and Local- we must pay taxes. However it is the job of Council Members to ensure that the taxes are used in the best possible manner to service the public. The local government should be able to self finance all projects without bonds, increases in taxes or borrowing money over time. A government that can do as such is financially stable.

I strongly support a TAX REFORM where we REMOVE ALL THE JINDAL/TRUMP CORPORATE LOOPHOLES that enable THEM to NOT PAY any TAXES or PERSONAL DEBT at OUR EXPENSE. Additionally, I propose a 10% flat rate for all Non-Profit organizations. Last, we must end FEDERAL, STATE & LOCAL POLITICAL CORRUPTION with a $2700 POLITICAL DONATION CAP per individual or POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE--END CITIZENS UNITED.

I support a pure Flat Rate Income Tax of 15% with a large standard deduction so those at or below the poverty level don't pay any income tax.
