    I do not support the death penalty or mandatory minimums. Mandatory minimums & the death penalty negatively impact black & brown offenders as they are least likely to be assured fair trials and subsequent sentencing is never equitable to that of white charged with the same offense.

    I am against the death penalty. I believe life starts at conception and must be respected. Thus, I am “pro-life.” In the same regard, I cannot then be for the death penalty. And, to the extent that America leads the world in homicides, I believe the death penalty is not a deterrent. According to Amnesty International, as of July 2015, 101 countries have abolished the death penalty for all crimes.
