How much does PoliticalBank cost?

It’s free for voters and candidates to join PoliticalBank. For voters, that means there’s no cost at all to find, learn about, and support elected officials who share your ideology.

For candidates, there is no cost to create a sleek campaign profile page and rally supporters, recruit volunteers, clearly convey positions on issues, and accept online campaign donations. We collect a donation processing fee of 5.4% per donation, which is much less than competing websites.

Why was PoliticalBank created?

PoliticalBank was created to provide candidates a safe place to define themselves rather than be defined by their opponents. Equally as important, we wanted to give voters access to accurate information about those running for office in candidates' own words. PoliticalBank is uniquely designed to give candidates and voters the best place on the internet to connect with each other.

Who is allowed to sign-up?

On the "candidate" side, any government official or candidate for office with a campaign committee. On the "voter" or public user side, anyone. Period.

Why aren't there a lot of candidates who have taken positions on issues?

We're new! Not a lot of candidates have discovered the power of PoliticalBank… yet. But we intend to become the staple of every political campaign.

Is PoliticalBank affiliated with a specific political party?

PoliticalBank is entirely nonpartisan. Our mission is to provide a safe and unbiased platform for candidates of every party, demographic, region, and level of office being sought. We want PoliticalBank to be the first place candidates go to launch a successful campaign, reach voters everywhere, and increase their chances of winning elections. Whether you're a card-carrying Democrat from Bloomington or a member of the Little Bit of Politics Party in LaPorte County, we don't play favorites.

How is the Issues list populated?

PoliticalBank's "list of 19" issues were carefully chosen to give candidates as many opportunities as possible to cover a wide range of interests. If a candidate failed to select issues important to you, then "Suggest an Issue" through his or her profile page.

How do candidates take a position on an issue?

Candidates first choose the issue, then decide whether their ideology can be described as "Left," "Center-Left," "Center," "Center-Right," or "Right"… or candidates can remain undeclared. Then, in 400 characters or less, where they stand on the respective issue.

Who determines where a Candidate's position falls on the ideology spectrum?

PoliticalBank’s ideology spectrum is intended to reflect the contemporary understanding of "Left," "Center," and "Right," as those terms are generally used in United States politics. However, only candidates choose where they stand or whether they remain "Undeclared."

What is the issue suggestion process and who decides which issues are added?

Any registered user can request candidates weigh in on specific issues through the candidate's "suggest and issue" button located on his or her profile page. Candidates choose whether or not to take a position and add the issue to the list of issues already posted. Candidates can either "decline" or "accept" to respond to suggested issues.

Are Candidate's positions moderated by PoliticalBank?

PoliticalBank respects candidates' first amendment right to free speech… especially political speech. Only on the rarest of occasion will it be appropriate for us to moderate content. Plus, it's important for voters to see candidates' true colors… the good, the bad, and the ugly.
