Public Safety

“I "back the blue" and will ALWAYS support our law enforcement personnel. I will work jointly with the Sheriff's Office and all law enforcement to do everything possible to eradicate the current epidemic of opioid abuse in our County. In addition, I will make sure that Dare County has all the resources necessary to ensure the safety of our citizens and of all of our summer visitors.”

Education

“The children of Dare County are our future, and they deserve a quality education in our local schools. Our teachers deserve salaries commensurate with their education and experience that will enable them to afford to live comfortably in Dare County. I support the expansion of the Manteo Campus of the College of the Albemarle and am working with the county Task Force to ensure that is done well.”

Offshore Drilling

“I strongly oppose offshore drilling in the waters beyond our coast. While I fully support American energy independence, there are many alternatives to achieving it. The risk of any spill is simply too high, and I will fight this issue strongly. One spill could destroy the economy of the Outer Banks for generations. ”

Tax & Spend

“I will not raise taxes except as a last resort and only if I truly believe it is in the best interest of the citizens of Dare County. I will spend as much time as is required of me to fully understand Dare County’s $110.7 million general fund budget, and to be a good steward of the revenue generated from our taxpaying citizens. ”
