For many professions and careers, a college degree is the base to which many attribute the start of their working life. An education system that is more accessible for those interested in pursuing higher education is paramount. We must invest in education at all levels, and value the benefit of education on quality of life for Americans.

Teachers cannot teach children who do not have adequate nutrition and a safe environment. Children cannot learn equally when some teachers have to pull money out of their own pocketbook to provide the students with learning materials. There are 55,000 est. jobs that will go unfilled in the computer field. Provide these skills as part of a primary education. Also bring back vocational education.

I believe there should be no classes with no more than 20 students. Teachers should be paid more. Students should have more leadership training and project completion training. I believe every American should have access to higher education if they can't afford state college or trade school they can serve two years in either Vista volunteers, National Health Services or the military in exchange.

I am tired of the children, schools, and teachers being used as pawns in the political realm. Schools should be funded without any money coming from the teachers pocket for supplies. Up and down budgeting should be a thing of the past.

As an an educator myself, I strongly support public education. I believe teachers need to be given a reason to be the best teachers they can be. I believe there are several ways we can watch, scrutinize and maximize the effectiveness of the taxpayer money we put into education. I believe we need to hold traditional public schools AND public charter schools to a high standard.
