I am a life-long Democrat born in LA County and raised by parents that instilled the values of hard work and determination. My education; BA (CSULA) and MA (Chapman Univ.), is a testimony of perseverance. I support increased public education funding for improved learning opportunities for culturally and income diverse students and advocate for the protection of women's reproductive choice. I am a faculty member at CSULA and an active member of the CFA and CTA. I am an Emerge CA (2015) alumna and Founder of A Need of Our Own, Inc. a 501(c)3 devoted to improving the condition of homeless women.
“I adamantly oppose laws that permit individuals to legally own & carry guns. Gun violence in our nation's public schools and public venues has increased as a direct result of unauthorized access to legally acquired guns. Public safety should be the priority, not individual preference.”
“I am pro-choice. The decision to terminate a pregnancy is a difficult one and should always be made by the woman without shame or judgment. I support the use of public funds to provide termination and related services in a safe environment that respects choice and protects the physical and emotional well-being of the woman. We live in a democratic state upon which our civil liberties are defined.”
“As a black female, I fully support laws that benefit minorities and provide a clear path to building the academic and economic capacity of specific groups; such as black males, women of color, LGBTQ teens and adults and individuals with physical and mental challenges. All citizens should be afforded equal rights and opportunities to better themselves and live their lives without prosecution. ”
“I support laws that make it difficult for criminals; first time offenders or re-offenders to do so without consequence. Mandatory sentences and the death penalty support this. Rape, murder and child molestation should be considered heinous crimes.”
“I support publicly funded pre-K programs as they would have qualified teachers capable of setting the foundation for long-term academic and social success and the funding would allow increased enrollment for working families. ”
Operation Get to Give
I am seeking volunteers to phone bank and precinct walk. Most importantly to contribute to the campaign. No donation is too small and all are greatly appreciated.
