It's so sad that Syrian refugees have had their homes destroyed. We should help shelter them and help find a way for them to go back home. My heart breaks when I see images of how bombs have driven them out of their country and the perils women and children have to face while fleeing a warzone.

A 10-foot wall just requires an 11-foot ladder. Having served as Governor of a border state, I support a simplified and secure system of work visas by which willing workers and willing employers can meet in a robust labor marketplace efficiently and economically. Aspiring immigrants would undergo a background check, pay taxes and provide proof of employment.

The Green New Deal will end the war on immigrants, which is terrorizing millions of both citizens and non-citizen immigrants, on no basis other than their perceived immigration status. We need to provide a welcoming and legal path to the immigrants who have always been the backbone of our economy and the diversity that makes this country great. Stop deportations that tear immigrant families apart.
