History shows us that an unarmed civilian population is easier to control than an armed one. History also shows that guns in the hands of un-responsible people often leads to misuse, death and sorrow. As a community, we need to work together to protect our self from both Individuals who want to interfere with our pursuit of happiness and governments that want to control us.

We need to protect our right to keep and bear arms. Restrictions should be in place against criminals and the mentally ill, while banning people on the 'no-fly list' from purchasing guns and ammunition without due process is unconstitutional.

It's very important that we ban assault weapons, for starters, but there are other steps that need to be taken quickly. Local communities need to be able to regulate guns, as needed, to deal with their violence. So, we need to keep guns out of the hands of criminals. We need background checks, so that the mentally ill are not possessing and using guns. And we need to end the gun show loopholes.
