The problem is, I don’t think a lack of gun laws . . . if you focus on the guns you’re missing the bigger picture which is the fact that people have been isolated [and] estranged. Trying to take away guns I don’t think is going to solve this problem.

The Second Amendment is not simply about hunting or target practice. It’s about protecting our lives, families, and homes . . . When citizens cease to have the right to defend ourselves, we cease to be free . . . [A]s radical Islamic terrorists seek to attack Americans on our own soil, Americans’ right to protect our families and communities is all the more critical to our safety and freedom.

I do support comprehensive background checks, and to close the gun show loop-hole, the online loop-hole and ... the Charleston loop-hole, to prevent people who are on the no fly list from getting guns. ... There needs to be a rival organization to the NRA of responsible gun owners who know that their hunting rights, their shooting rights, their collecting rights … is not going to be effected.

I adamantly oppose laws that permit individuals to legally own & carry guns. Gun violence in our nation's public schools and public venues has increased as a direct result of unauthorized access to legally acquired guns. Public safety should be the priority, not individual preference.

I believe the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution guarantees a fundamental, individual right to keep and bear arms that applies to all Americans, regardless of where they live in the United States. Gun control only hurts law abiding citizens. Criminals don’t follow laws. “Gun bans don’t disarm criminals, gun bans attract them.” Walter Mondale.

I believe in the constitutional right to bear arms. The Second Amendment it was never designed for hunting. It was designed so the people could form a militia. I think everyone has the right to bear arms but I do believe that the larger weapons (military grade) should be housed at the National Guard Armory. Not only could they keep their weapons there but they can learn to clean and fire them.
