I am for the separation of School and State. Parents should have full freedom to choose the schools of their children, including home school, and should be given tax vouchers to fund their choices. Common Core is wicked and should not be taught.

Research has clearly proven that charter schools do not perform better than public schools on outcomes. This has also been shown to cater to the "elite" and takes funding away from public schools. Choices may be fine but at the same time production should be part of the equation.

I oppose the use of government vouchers for private schools (independent or religious). All school, public and private, but particularly charter schools, need to be transparent and accountable in terms of applications and lotteries, governance and boards, hiring and firing practices, compensation scales, methods of determining staffing and actual compliance with all state laws. I support quality education through school choice. As a mother of three and as a former teacher, I realize the importance of developing the talents of children so that they can grow to be happy and productive adults. Because children are born with different talents, parents should have the freedom to choose the school that best fits those needs.

I have been a public school teacher for over 20 years. I believe that it is very important to let parents have a major choice in their child's education. I would like parents to receive school vouchers for their children to attend the school of their choice. If public schools are forced to be competitive, they would do a better job and students would have a broad variety of choices.
