I am a native of Columbus, Indiana, a self-employed consultant and trainer, and an adjunct faculty member at Indiana University in Columbus. I believe county elected officials must be Creative in determining how county government will fund the provision of needed services; Connect with Bartholomew County residents, employees, businesses, and service providers; and Collaborate to achieve a shared vision and common goals for everyone who lives in Bartholomew County. I am running for office because I want to contribute to the process of making these things happen in the community in which I live!
“This year, Bartholomew County employees received a flat $750 “bonus”, rather than a percentage of increase in pay. This “bonus” didn’t cover the increase in the employee-pay portion of the medical benefit package—a package in which coverage was reduced from 80/20 to 70/30. We cannot continue asking people to do more with less and for employees to be loyal without being adequately compensated.”
“We have a significant drug problem in our county. We cannot build enough jail cells to lock this problem up. There must be treatment options available to address the drug problem. Both the public and private sectors must contribute to ensuring that appropriate treatment options are made available.”
“Everyone that drives and/or uses goods transported and delivered across our roadways expects to have well maintained roads. Building roadways is just the first step. Maintaining our roads and bridges requires ongoing fiscal support from everyone that uses these roads--individuals, businesses, and industry and commerce.”
“For far too long the Bartholomew County Council has balanced its budget at the expense of adequately funding the departments and employees that provide services to the citizens of Bartholomew County. While no one really wants to raise or implement new taxes, something must be done to increase revenues to support our roads and bridges, our schools and to ensure publics safety in all its forms. ”
“Bartholomew County is an increasingly diverse mixed rural and urban community. Respecting the rights of ALL residents of Bartholomew County must be an important focus of Bartholomew County government. We must work partnership with representatives from the City of Columbus and the State of Indiana to ensure equity and equal rights for EVERYONE. ”
