Quick Bio

Megan began her community involvement by leading a successful effort to save a neighborhood green space from development and, in 2007, her neighbors elected her to the Roeland Park City Council where she served until 2015. Proudest moments: creating a signature city park, successfully leading the city through the Great Recession with no staff layoffs, creating public art programs and green policies, enhancing resident communication, and instituting a non-discrimination ordinance for the LGBTQIA community–only the 2nd city to successfully do so in Kansas in nearly a quarter of a century

Education

“We Must Adequately Invest In Our Public Schools To restore balance in Topeka, we must redefine our measures of success. No challenge was ever overcome by playing defense alone. I will work for long-term constitutional funding for our students and teachers, and not claim victory in short-term solutions that fail to move our schools or community forward.”

Economic & Tax Policy

“PROMOTE FAIR REVENUE REFORM We must return to a sensible, balanced, and sustainable revenue policy. I oppose additional increases in sales taxes, especially on food, which hurt Johnson County and our most vulnerable neighbors.”

Township Government

“RESPECT LOCAL PRIORITIES The success of the state depends on the financial strength of Johnson County cities. Recognizing the 9 unique cities within my district, I respect the importance of local control solutions for each city and school district. With 8 years of local elected service, I have a record of community leadership and know how to responsibly and respectfully spend tax payer dollars”
