Quick Bio

I’m Frank Cooke, a Republican, who wants to represent you in Annapolis as the Delegate from District 37-A. I’m running to support Governor Hogan in his efforts to roll back taxes, to create jobs, to take a tougher stance against criminals, and to establish Maryland as the leader in public education. As a child of working class parents, I benefited from state support of education and earned several college degrees. I used them to support our military, intelligence, and law enforcement agencies. In retirement, I have taught, coached, and served as an elected official.

Jobs & the Jobless

“Governor Hogan has turned Maryland around by providing tax relief, by cutting wasteful spending, by reducing fees, and by regulatory reform. Maryland is now first among mid-Atlantic state in job creation. No longer are its citizens and businesses fleeing. We simply need to follow Gov. Hogan's lead and to support his policies. His four years in office is a profound success.”

Education

“I am the product of public education and state subsidized universities. I believe in the benefits and have worked as a teacher and coach in Dorchester County. Rural schools struggle to support their public schools. The Kirwin Commission is likely to recommend redistribution of public money which should help us. Remember, the GI bill of post-WWII led to our longest period of prosperity. ”

Minimum Wage

“There has been much discussion about a $15 minimum wage. Nothing could be more detrimental to Gov. Hogan's efforts to create jobs than to have the legislature pass this. Some people will benefit but many more will suffer as businesses and jobs move to neighboring states. Unemployment will rise and there will be more pressure to raise taxes to compensate for the loss. It is a bad idea.”

Agriculture & Farms

“Our farmers and watermen are critical to our way of life on the Eastern Shore. They are an integral part of who we are and what attracts people to our area. We cannot put them out of business with unreasonable regulations. The interests of environmentalists must be balanced against the needs of working families to preserve the Chesapeake Bay and our rural heritage.”
