Quick Bio

Prior to studying law, DC was already a holistic intellectual and life-long student with broad interests and aptitudes. DC earned the Eagle Scout Leadership Service Award as a teenager living in Utah. DC was also recognized for excellence as a Georgia Scholar and National Merit Scholar at his graduation from Evans High School. After graduating from Texas A&M, DC taught high school geometry and pre-calculus in a high-need district, and DC genuinely enjoys helping others learn and grow to reach SMART goals. Public Transportation & Roads

“Public transit should be "permitted," not tax-funded. Contractors should be allowed to build roads and bridges without unnecessary government interference, knowing that even highly regulated projects have failed catastrophically. Buses and trains are giving way to private ride-sharing ventures like Uber and Lyft. Private commerce does a better job at getting people where they need to go.”

Organized Labor Unions

“I do not believe labor unions benefit employers. They do benefit senior employees. Unions served to bring attention to abuses by some employers, but their recent benefit to society is minimal. The right to work is fundamental, and not a policy that should be eliminated. Freedom to contract should be permitted.”

Make Getting a Job Easier

“Submitting a W-4 and I-9 should be discretionary and completed only upon the initiative or request of a new employee after being hired, if not eliminated altogether. A lesser alternative is to incorporate the I-9 and W-4 into the tax filing process rather than the payroll process, with employers able to continue maximum withholding or withhold the W-2 forms until a W-4 and I-9 are filed. ”

Infrastructure Repair & Investment

“By "laws," this issue means "mandatory spending." This historically tends to turn into "pork barrel" slush money spent on pet projects. I oppose "use-it-or-lose-it" budgeting and wasting tax dollars and issuing debt that requires future taxes. ”

Immigration & Deportation

“Our immigration system is seventy-years old and needs an overhaul.”

Gambling & Casinos

“I oppose gambling. I do not impose my morality on others. I would say that the privilege to gamble would fall under the freedom to contract.”

Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll

“I practice chastity. However, I would legalize prostitution, even if I would never be in the market for those services. I do not listen to loud music. However, I would let someone else blast out their eardrums if they want to. In the same sentence, I would bar them from creating a public nuisance. What you do in private is not the state's business unless you are hurting someone.”

Universal Higher Education

“Nothing is free. All attempts to make something free require theft from the persons really paying for it and devalue the goods or services for the persons receiving them. ”

Alcohol Sales

“I practice and encourage temperance. I do not drink intoxicating liquors and never will. However, I am not going to push my morals on others.”

LEGAL AGE

“The age should be 18. I do not advocate for alcohol, but I do oppose criminalizing consumption by adults.”

Civil Liberties and Civil Rights

“Affirmative action carries with it the same evils it attempts to annihilate. Under the name "civil rights", special interest lobbies advocate for "majority class discrimination." They claim to seek protections only, but the minorities that they seek to give an advantage do not actually excel nor obtain equality when given special considerations.”

STRONGLY SUPPORT

Decriminalization of Marijuana

“I would never smoke. I hate smoke. Do not smoke around me. However, I consider the war on drugs to be a failed endeavor.”

The Federalist Society is committed to the principles that the state exists to preserve freedom, that the separation of governmental powers is central to our Constitution, and that it is emphatically the province and duty of the judiciary to say what the law is, not what it should be.
