Organized Labor Unions

“As past chapter president of the Del Norte County Employee Association/SEIU-1021, I fully support organized workforces. They are better trained, dedicated, and loyal. Attempts at union busting are counter productive and demoralizing. Especially in the public sector, where organization offsets political agendas and gives the community a stable workforce with better services.”

Education

“I support improving our local schools to address our unique and difficult challenges. I also support local trade schools and technical training for high school students AND adults, so those that do not go on to college can have a future too. Our local businesses need qualified and trained workers.”

Local Economy

“Our local economy is suffering & decent jobs are hard to find because of governmental policies. We need to recruit new businesses and companies that can provide economic opportunities and better jobs for our local workforce. ”

Fighting Blight and Decay

“Our county is suffering from dumping, blight, and neglect. These problems have been ignored for far too long. We need to fully fund the County's code enforcement efforts and support actions that hold negligent property owners accountable. ”

Public Safety

“Crime is increasing, and we lack a comprehensive crime prevention program. Our Sheriff’s Department needs more support. The Board of Supervisors must find a way to fund our law enforcement agencies so they can do their jobs. Current funding only allows for "catch and release" of criminal suspects. Crime flourishes where there are no consequences.”
