Mr. Slocum has been a resident of District 5 for over 20 years. At the age of 13, he started advocating for youth that sparked his endeavors to bringing real positive change to helping students, families, seniors, communities, and small businesses. Albert is a strong leader who will stand up for what is right for District 5 by supporting and creating legislation that will help build sustainable communities through smart housing, quality education, improved access to quality health care, and better infrastructure. Let's together thrive in District 5.
“I support clean air & alternative energy that will help eliminate toxins, pollutants, & hazardous materials that are destroying our ozone layers, natutral resources, animal life, & environment as a whole.”
“I believe that all Citizens should have access to affordable healthcare. With the rising costs, we should be taking a stand for funding viable & effective healthcare initiatives that work & support preventative as well as existing illnesses so that all Citizens can live longer & healthier without the dependence of expensive treatments & prescriptions. More focus on education & living healthier.”
“Sharing the road with byciclists can be a challenge, but shouldn't put anyone at harm's way. That's why bike Lanes & trails should be designed with all riders & enthusiasts in mind. A safe & family oriented initiative that can help improve overall a more active quality of lifestyle for all as well as encourage less vehicles & pollutive emissions on the road for a cleaner & healthier environment.”
“There should be stricter guidelines established in order to keep all Citizens safe as well as eliminate those in harm's way from particularly dangerous off-market guns & weapons posing a serious threat to all including those in Public Safety protecting & serving our communities. Mandatory ongoing psychological & continuing education along with screenings for new & existing owners of guns are key.”
“Better roads & advanced transportation services can make a big difference. It's also important to consider in addition to the current transit service an alternative that is environmentally conducive, customer service focused, safe, reliable, convenient, & low costs transportation network that caters toward senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, & children between the ages of 5 & 18.”
“Public policies that support and encourage Start-ups, small businesses, and entrepreneurship foster job creation and vitality in & around our communities. Supporting socially responsible & sustainable ventures & prudent decision making processes can go a long way in helping to improve economic growth & participation.”
“Less property taxes including reform on income taxes to low to middle income homeowners, families, & Citizens so that more goes to building a quality of life for tax payers fostering viable & effective initiatives that invest in our youth, families, communities, and businesses. We must put the People of District 5, County wide, and Maryland first. In turn, we the People will experience better.”
Infrastructure Repair & Investment
“Protecting natural resources, clean air, water, & environment help keep families safe & healthy. Development should afford every Citizen the opportunity to live & enjoy a better quality of life while also having an invested interest. We thrive in District 5 when we reinvest in each other, our communities, schools, and businesses. Growth, revitalization, and sustainability should work for all.”
“Everyone should have an opportunity to quality & affordable living. Building healthy & sustainable communities help attribute to healthy families, which foster & promote safe neighborhoods.”
“I support the minimum wage $15 per hour so that individuals & families for starters can afford more in order to sustain a better quality of life. The key is to enforce this without negatively impacting businesses' bottom line. Therefore, my position is to come up with a viable solution to help smaller businesses afford the change while improving the overall quality of employees.”
“I support training & development initiatives for individuals seeking employment. Gainful employment programs will also help afford the opportunity to hedge against cost of living while providing for their families. For those that protect & invest in our future such as Public Safety, Veterans, & Teachers, we must approve a budget that supports pay scale improvements to salaries & benefits.”
“Transportation should be designed to help alleviate the impact of increasing traffic & lengthy commute (i.e. improvements made on separating lanes for bus transportation & emergency vehicles will help increase travel efficiency). We must also focus on making highway transportation affordable. Many Citizens are unable to afford costs associated with Express or HOV lanes & increases toll costs.”
“For many people, animals are an extension to our families. Many help perform various duties such as protecting, serving, and helping individuals with disabilities. Our systems depend on the many functions animals attribute to our quality of life, which is why it is our duty to help protect their rights and existence.”
“Having the choice & opportunity to attend a private or public school matters, & ultimately see it as taking care of home. We can build a world class infrastructure for both that brings out the best in our students while developing our future scholars. We must have an educational system designed to achieve desired outcomes as a whole since our taxes are already allocated no matter where they go.”
